The Cinema of Tsui Hark

"Tsui Hark, one of China's most famous film artists, is little known outside of Asia even though he has directed, produced, written, or acted in 64 films over the last twenty years, some of which are considered to be classics of modern Asian cinema.". "This work, the first of its kind, assesses Tsui Hark's place in Hong Kong and world cinema, his influences, and his thematic obsessions. Each major film of his career is described and reviewed and compared with the others (lesser films are also covered but in less detail).". "Production details, comments from the director himself, box office and awards information, and various other particulars are provided for the films. Places in Hong Kong where information on Tsui Hark can be found and places where his films can be found outside of Hong Kong are given."--BOOK JACKET.
