The Enemy Is Within

"Scholars have generally approached the book of Judith from either a "historical" perspective or a "nonhistorical" perspective. The book has been assessed "historically" in terms of its nature as "the Word of God" and as a representation of factual history. From a "nonhistorical" perspective, scholars downplay the questions of historicity in favor of analyzing the text's literary or allegorical function by examining the book's narrative structure and its representation in art and literature. Efthimiadis-Keith's study of the book of Judith presents a third approach that utilizes both "historical" and "nonhistorical" elements as well as adding the author's own, unique interpretation."--BOOK JACKET.
