The Family in Theological Perspective

This study is presented at a time of profound interest in and concern for the fate of the family at the end of the twentieth century. There has been relatively little serious theology on the family. It is a subject currently dominated by work in the fields of history and the social sciences. In this book a range of theological disciplines has been brought together, including biblical interpretation, patristics, early modern history, ecclesiology, liturgy, ethics, sociology, feminist studies, educational theory and philosophical theology. In its approach it explores biblical, historical and contemporary issues. The aim is to provide a comprehensive, in-depth resource for theological reflection on the family.
