The French secret services

This text tells the story of France's spy networks from the Dreyfus Affair to the Rainbow Warrior. Douglas Porch's narrative discusses diplomatic and military intelligence as well as covert operations and industrial espionage. He questions the effectiveness of the French Resistance during World War II, and tells of opium-smuggling in Indo-China and torture in Algeria. It analyzes the role which the French secret services continue to play in France's political life today, and is intended for students from undergraduate level upwards of European/French history, and those with an interest in intelligence and espionage.
