The Industrial Development of the Ebbw Valleys, 1780-1914

"This is the story of the considerable contribution of the Ebbw valleys in south Wales to the industrial decisions and changes which formed the modern world." "It is the first history of the Ebbw valleys, which are considered to be among the major valleys of the south Wales coalfield. It is a study of a historically neglected yet, in some unexpected ways, remarkable area, both in its substantial contribution to the genesis of the modern industrial world and to the understanding of industrial change. Indeed, some historians would assert that the understanding of change is best studied by considering the history of such places."--BOOK JACKET.
