The Nickel City solution

"Since 2009 Buffalo NY has had a well reviewed, viable and fully professional opera company. Despite a bad economy and a questionable patron base Nickel City Opera has grown from nothing to a repsected member of the arts community in Western New York. The company does two productions a year; one large show in June and a smaller show for the Christmas holidays. The annual revenue of the company hovers at just over $120,000. Read about how a small dedicated staff can pull off a quality production for far less than the industry standard. With a no frills approach any city can build a small, dependable opera company to provide one of the greatest art forms ever created."--back cover.
