The Perkin Warbeck conspiracy, 1491-1499

The Perkin Warbeck Conspiracy, 1491-1499 focuses on the persona of Perkin Warbeck and the men who organized his conspiracy. For over five hundred years Warbeck's true identity has been the subject of speculation and debate. In this book Dr. Arthurson does not dwell on futile speculation, but concentrates instead on what Warbeck's function was. This, he argues, was to provide a mechanism whereby Edward, Earl of Warwick, could be brought to the throne of England replacing Henry VII as king. Illustrated with a wealth of contemporary portraits, paintings, engravings and documents, and with full notes, genealogical tables and maps, this book, the first in-depth study of Perkin Warbeck, will be welcomed by both the academic historian and the general reader.
