The soul polisher's apprentice

The Soul Polishers Apprentice invites readers to become a hae (fly) on the training wall of an American renaissance in the innermost chambers of martial knowledge. Discover the real day-to-day deal without the hype. American martial orthodoxy is claiming the heart of Asian karate-Do! Here is a true, down-to-earth, clearly presented and insightful unfolding of the inner martial journey as it winds through the training hall, into the personal lives, and the spiritual destinies of two contemporary journeymen, Hayashi Tomio, a wily and wizened, middle-aged, American karate-Do master and his faithful protégé, White Tiger, an intelligent, determined, university-schooled, martial deshi, who through his teacher’s loving mentorship, comes to embrace the essence of authentic Martial Ways practice. Hayashi’s martial insights about the nature of spirituality through Budo training are penetrating, positive, and refreshing as he lays out White Tiger’s path. Martial artists from any background should find the spiritual kumi-te of these two Budo-ka encouraging and inspiring to their own journey. After reading this account, it is doubtful that you will ever look at or perform your martial art the same, and if you have not studied a traditional martial discipline, this book offers a powerful incentive to do so.
