The test

"Pat's Friday begins with the phone ringing at 7:30 a.m. Her eighty-year-old father's familiar, anxious, and vaguely suspicious voice greets her: "When you coming? We'll be late for my test!" Strong, but weakening daily, Pete Sancavei can't concentrate long enough to drive to the grocery store, yet he has appealed his driver's license revocation three times; this is his last chance to pass the driving test. Pat, trapped between sympathy and fury, wants him to fail his test, but wants to pass hers - the test of caring for her father." "With all the complexity, bravery, and dry humor for which author Dorothy Bryant's fiction is acclaimed, The Test dives into the daily struggle of a middle-aged daughter who wants to help, but also hinder, her aging, senile father. Bryant's unflinching gaze sees deep into the hearts of both parent and child."--BOOK JACKET.
