Translating the past

"In Translating the Past, art historian Anne D. Hedeman traces the history of Laurent de Premierfait's French translations of Boccaccio's De casibus virorum illustrium, a fourteenth-century text containing cautionary historical tales on the corrupting effects of power. The author examines not only how Boccaccio's Latin made its way into Laurent's French, under the title Des cas des nobles hommes et femmes, but also how the text was translated into visual images."--Jacket.
