Unkind Donuts

Unkind Donuts is a full-length, two-act play the entirety of which takes place in a donut shop. Bestselling author Donald T. Phillips combines the human interactions in that setting with a major issue of his time - illegal immigration. Throughout, he focuses on facts, inconsistencies, and the pluses and minuses on both sides of the debate. Phillips also ponders the related issues of racism, love, and contradiction, which are the three major themes of Unkind Donuts. His exploration of the human belief system and related behavior makes the work enduring. Beneath the play's themes is 16-year-old Karen's search for meaning. Employed in her first job (as a waitress) she represents every individual who seeks answers to life's deepest questions. What is important? What is right? What is wrong? Why are we here? How will we live together? Unkind Donuts is a classic morality play. -Amazon
