Valie Export

"Valie Export played a pioneering role in the emergence of feminist and social-critical art. This catalog book documents the exhibition Valie Export / Archive at the Kunsthaus Bregenz which is showing the comprehensive archive for the first time in a selection specially compiled by the artist. 57 showcases, with news articles, sketches, scripts, polaroids, collages, objects, concept drawings, and much more beside, present a cosmos whose social, political, and art-historical relevance is the subject of an illuminating talk between Valie Export and Yilmaz Dziewior. At the core of this catalog is the first ever publication of this archive material with large-format illustrations of all showcases and a complete archive inventory. Essays by Astrid Wege and Jürgen Thaler deal with the concept of the archive in connection with the artist's specific working methods and make the catalog an indispensable resource for anyone interested in Valie Export."--P.
