Vitala delar

Stunningly beautiful and serene: Törnell's glass sculptures also show her deep knowledge of the materials used. This catalogue presents recent sculptural works by Karin Törnell. 'This I once saw, but forgot. And it is a recognition of a special kind - acquaintance with the absent, kinship with the foreign. Karin Törnell has the ability to figure out the most primary and basic - what seems paradoxical, but which constitute precisely those internal contradictions that form a existence.' That's how Magnus Florin writes about the exhibition Vitala Parts, which is presented with generous images in this book. Here you also get close-ups of the large-scale the public works Andetag och Fotfäste (Breath and Foothold), at Station City, Citybanan in Stockholm.00The two series ? Vital Parts and Breath & Foothold - also produced during the same time period, show the core of Karin Törnell's art - kiln-cast glass as recurring and often supporting element in the studio-based sculptural works, and larger artistic designs in public space.
