"Creating attractive yet efficient image-based Web pages requires an understanding of both design and the numerous technical issues involved. WWW.Imaging provides all the information needed for just such an understanding. Following a brief introduction to the basics of imaging, Chapter one explores good Web-design practice, such as the effective use of colour and symbols, and Web-safe colour. Chapter two concentrates on image capture, as well as providing practical advice on achieving high-quality scans. Chapter three examines image manipulation software and the pros and cons of all the major file formats. Chapter four examines image manipulation - from basic colour correction to advanced retouching techniques, while in Chapter five dynamic content, such as rollover buttons, animation, and video, is discussed. Finally Chapter six describes how to assemble effective websites and the book ends with a showcase of inspirational examples."--Jacket.
