"Elfin sacred law forbids contact between elf and human, but Piffels sets out to contact the world of humankind through Esmeralda, a small child whose backyard is home to Piffels' village. His goal of innocent friendship will set in motion events that will change their worlds forever ... Unbeknownst to Piffels, another elf called the Master also desires to make contact with the human world; but for a much different and nefarious purpose than friendship. Piffels begins to understand that for the love of his people and his friend Esmeralda he will do any thing ... Any thing at all."--Page 4 of cover.
