The name "Vandals" stands today for destruction and devastation. This history of the Vandals revises the view of Vandals as uncivilized hordes, and instead looks at them as pioneers in the reorganization of the Roman world. In this book, the history of the Vandals is embedded in the context of the Roman Mediterranean world in the 5th and 6th centuries. The author also explores the reception of the idea of the Vandals in the Middle Ages and today.
