About the book
*Engineering Architecture: The Vision of Fazlur R. Khan* focuses on Khan’s progressive ideas for large-scale building design, which he initiated in his own projects – projects such as Chicago’s 100-story John Hancock Center and 110-story Sears Tower, the world’s tallest building for over twenty years. Through detailed examination of projects at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, this study of Fazlur Khan's career provides insight into architectural and engineering practice. At the same time, *Engineering Architecture* describes Khan’s childhood in Bengal, his early engineering studies, and the personal qualities that shaped his life.
