About the book
Drawing on journals, letters, and interviews with her classmates, Disher recalls the experiences of the women in the U.S. Naval Academy's class of 1980, the first class which accepted women. "Disher is unflinchingly frank in her descriptions of the prejudice and abuse that they frequently encountered ... A loyal navy supporter nevertheless, Disher offers a balanced account of life behind the academy's storiesdwalls for that first group of women."--Jacket.
