For better for worse

"In For Better, for Worse, Janet Sjaarda Sheeres highlights the lives of the wives of the first ten pastors of the Christian Reformed Church. Beginning when the CRC was founded in 1857, Sheeres proceeds in the order in which the first ten pastors joined the church. Drawing on genealogical and census data, church records from congregations their husbands served, and historical information about the position of women at the time, Sheeres brings the untold stories of these women's lives to light." --
