Fugue States

The wild, funny, and poignant story of two young men - Ash, who is grieving the death of his Kashmir-born father; and Matt, a pot-head drifter and Ash's hapless fool of a best friend - who embark on a Don Quixote-like quest from Canada to Kashmir, India. A parody of clueless tourism and western meddling in world affairs and a subtle, immensely affecting book about homesickness and the deep melancholy that abides in people who, like Ash and his father, and even like the foolish Matt, have never felt completely at home in the world.
