About the book
Thiss book is the most current work on today's global capitalist crisis and United States (U.S) Economic Crises. The book provides a comprehensive political historical analysis of events the led up to the present Second Great Depression (2009-2012). It examines the economics and politics of Roaring Twenties, Great Depression, and Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal Welfare Capitalist policies; the Rise of Neo Liberal Capitalism and the U.S. Sub-Prime Crisis to the Emergent depression (1944-2009); and the emergence of today s Global Economic Crises (2006-2010). The events, politics, and economics from 2009 to 2010 that led to the rise of the present Second Great Depression and President Barrack Obama s administration and Democrats quasi-welfare capitalist legislative response is incisively critiqued and examined. Under the guise of the question, What Needs to be Done? two egalitarian systemic change models, social democracy and democratic socialism, are examined. Their historical, ideological, and strategic aspects for effectuation are dealt with. Furthermore, a social movement paradigm and its mechanics, calling for the rise of reform or transformative New Movement, driven by either one of the two proposed systemic change models is provided. Uniquely, the work provides a post 2010 assessment from January to June 2011 of the egregious politics, economics, and social impact of the nation s deepening Economic Crises. Lastly, the epilogue looks at the salient obstacle e.g., U.S. political culture, that has obviated the rise of Socialism in the U.S. and provides several ominous forecasts and conclusions to the Second Great Depression during 2012-2020.
