Greek art in view

"This volume of essays celebrates the achievements of Brian Sparkes, a scholar who epitomises the key strengths and future promise of Classical Greek archaeology. Subjects that have long been among his research interests are here picked up by friends and colleagues." "The book begins with Brian Sparkes's inaugural lecture at Southampton in which he discusses how the appearance of men and women was conceived by artists and craftsmen in ancient Greece, and traces the change from idealised to more realistic figures."--Jacket.
