Il pane degli angeli

"Every Christmas, the Galleria degli Uffizi and the Association of the Friends of the Uffizi offer citizens and visitors to Florence a gift: an exhibition of artworks not normally on public display. The theme or subject varies from year to year....In one of the most recent of these exhibitions, a theme was chosen that was undoubtedly in harmony with the Christmas season, centering as it did on a fundamental path to Christian salvation: the Eucharist. The exhibition met with wide public acclaim and was subsequently held in Madrid in 2008 and Barcelona in 2009. And now, thanks again to the Friends of the Uffizi, I am delighted to announce its arrival in four museums within the United States."--Introduction, p. 13.
