"Initiated at Lahainaluna Seminary in 1836 by Reverend Sheldon Dibble and completed in a year, the book was the product of a special seminar of advanced students at Lahainuluna. The introduction to Ka Mooolelo Hawaii notes that the seminar students, many of them mature adults, combined interviews of knowledgeable elders with their own observations to develop historical essays which were then edited by the instructor." -- Intro.
