Lao sheng

A novel about a funeral singer in a mountain village in the 20th century, written by Jia Pingwa (1952?), a novelist and essayist. Jia is one of the most controversial and influential writers in China. One of his works, "Shaanxi Opera", has won the Mao Dun Litera.ture Prize, while another work "Deserted City" was previously banned in China.
