Little Lions First Readers

The Little Lions First Readers are a set of ten simple phonics books designed to turn early reading into a series of small, joyful victories. Created by retired teacher Karina Richland, these stories are perfect for children in Pre-K and Kindergarten who are just beginning their literacy journey. Rather than encouraging children to guess words based on pictures, these books use decodable text, meaning every word follows simple letter sounds that beginners can actually sound out. By focusing on short vowel sounds and basic three-letter words (such as cat, hen, and sit), the series builds genuine confidence without overwhelming the learner. Each book features bright illustrations and helpful questions at the end to ensure children understand what they have read. The Little Lions series provides young learners with the essential "keys" to the reading code, allowing them to experience the profound sense of accomplishment that comes from reading a book from start to finish independently.
