Money to burn

No wonder the three old aunts were decidedly odd. There had been no money to launch them into Society so they had lived at Trystings all these years, never travelling, never meeting people. For what could they do without money? The question was, however, was what they had done with money, with the thirteen thousand pounds collected from the insurance company. “Well, what happened to it?” asked Leigh. “There’s nothing private about it,” said Brian; “everybody in Cammertree can tell you what happened to it. They burnt it.”
