Murder Can Ruin Your Looks

Desiree Shapiro, New York's full-figured P.I., is dead set against taking another murder case. But her old friend Peter Winters just needs Desiree to figure out who got killed. His fiancee, Mary Ann, and her identical twin, Meredith, were brutally shot in their posh condo. One sister lies in the morgue. The other is in a coma. Nobody knows which of the once-beautiful blondes survived. So Desiree agrees to snoop around Meredith's fellow actors at a very offbeat, Off-Off-Broadway theater and cannily question Mary Ann's friends and sleazy ex-lover, in locales from Uptown to Jersey. And as the chilling picture emerges, lies, greed, and betrayal prove that looks are deceiving and increasingly dangerous--especially for New York's funniest, chubbiest gumshoe.
