About the book
"Nought to Sixty was a six-month programme of exhibitions and events at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, held to celebrate the organisation's sixtieth anniversary. It presented sixty projects by artists, artists' groups and commentators from the emerging art scenes in Britain and Ireland, including a large number of week-long exhibitions, but also performances, gigs, screenings, talks, publications, off-site projects and social events. Most of the artists were under thirty-five, few of them had had significant commercial exposure, and in most cases this was their first opportunity to mount a solo project in a major public space. The season was not intended to announce any new generation or style, but to build up a multifaceted portrait of the emerging art scenes in the two countries, and to build on the ICA's history as a club for artists and a laboratory for experimentation. This book is a record of an extraordinary six months."--Jacket.
