Pastor and Deacons explores the biblical qualifications for individuals serving in these two offices. It also discusses their roles and the relationship between these two important church leadership positions. Dr. Hartog's book reflects commitment to and confidence in the Bible's teaching concerning leadership in ministry. Honoring God's Word, he presents the pastor as a shepherd, not a CEO, and deacons as servants/pastor's assistants, not a Board of Directors. Both the qualifications and ministries of these two offices are described from a biblical and practical perspective. - Foreword to the revised third edition.
