Pirates of Ashlen

"Jay Perry's stepbrother, Thyran Vilkus, frames him for a malicious crime, forcing the teenager to go on the run and take refuge with a crew of pirates. During a heist several years later to steal a diamond locket, Jay learns the locket is a key to an ancient magic belonging to the legendary sorcerer, Ashlen Venclin, a magic for which Thyran has been hunting since murdering the governor of his hometown. Now, Jay is thrust into a high-velocity adventure to stop his stepbrother from completing his mission. He must outwit and outmaneuver his cunning stepbrother, avoid capture by an overzealous thick-skulled general, and survive attacks of vicious gorgrims, all to stop Thyran from obtaining Ashlen's powers that have been hidden for centuries"--Jacket flap.
