Pools

"Middle England, mid-1980's. The kind of place where nothing ever happens. Until the discovery of a body: a teenager called Robert has been killed, down by the pools, his body floating on the surface." "Half a dozen lives come unravelled: Rob's mother, Kath, has been making the best of her second-chance second marriage after her first husband was tragically killed. Howard, Rob's father, has been clinging to family life without connecting with either Kath or Rob. Joanna, the teen queen of nowheresville, has been looking for a way out and she hoped Rob was her ticket. And then there's Shane, with the backward brain and the brute strength, who has an unhealthy fixation on Joanna." "The Pools subtly reveals the tensions and terrors that underpin ordinary lives, causing them to spiral suddenly out of control."--BOOK JACKET.
