About the book

Prophecy of the Popes is a short prophetic text first published in 1595, written in Ecclesiastical Latin and built as a sequence of 112 cryptic phrases. In the version that came down through print, Benedictine monk Arnold Wion attributed it to Saint Malachy, a 12th-century archbishop. Each phrase is presented as if it refers to a different pope of the Catholic Church, starting with Celestine II.

It suits readers interested in religious writing, medieval traditions, and the way brief prophetic language can attract layers of interpretation. What makes it stand out is its format: not a narrative, but a tightly packed list of very short lines that stay deliberately vague. That gives it a close connection to other prophecy texts and to works that rely on symbolic, compressed language rather than plot or character development.
