"This study chronicles and problematizes ten years of interpretation of a single period. It challenges public historians to alter their perception of what eighteenth-century interpretation can be. It proposes new methods of interpretation and understanding to make greater connections with the American public. It proposes a history that does not rest solely on names or dates to form meaning, but creates a sense of the effusive nature of the historical narrative for all that encounter it as its goal.
