"In this illustrated volume featuring images by some of the world's most accomplished photographers, Alexander Tzonis considers Calatrava's previous projects and his design credo - what the author refers to as a poetics of movement in architecture - in the context of his Olympic work. In the brief history of the ancient Olympic Games and their cultural relevance and the overview of the important architecture associated with the games, Tzonis reveals how Calatrava thoughtfully and skillfully represented in his Olympic structures the ancient ideals that formed the foundation of one of the greatest institutions in history."--BOOK JACKET.
