About the book
The complete life and times of blues singer Slim Harpo (1924-1970), chronicling his development from local bluesman to R&B star, from the black clubs of Baton Rouge to the white college circuit and national recognition in the late 1960s. The lives and careers of other Baton Rouge blues players are examined as context and contrast to Harpo, as is his legacy in relation to the blues music scene in Louisiana.
