About the book
The articles contained in this book are revisions of papers presented at a conference cosponsored by the Social Science Research Council and the Social Systems Research Institute of the University of Wisconsin, November 12-16, 1970. The conference was organized and chaired by Professor Arthur S. Goldberger, coeditor of this volume, and was held at Madison. The Russell Sage Foundation generously provided funds for the expenses of the conference and preparation of the papers for publication. The Conference on Structural Equation Models is a milestone in the history of social science methodology, for it brought together the widest variety of social scientists whose research interests lay in the development and use of quantitative methods for analyzing causation in non-experimental data.
