The Adventures of Tom Bombadil is a 1962 poetry collection by J. R. R. Tolkien. It brings together 16 poems, including two centered on Tom Bombadil, a character from Tolkien's Middle-earth who also appears in The Lord of the Rings. The rest range across fairy-tale rhymes and verse built around creatures, oddities, and the kind of invented world-building Tolkien often used in his longer fiction. Three of the poems also appeared in The Lord of the Rings.
This is a good fit for readers who already like Tolkien and want to see another side of his writing, especially the more playful and musical side. It is less about plot and more about voice, rhythm, and imagery, so it works well for readers who enjoy dipping in and out rather than following a continuous story. The book sits close to Tolkien's larger Middle-earth writing, and to fantasy that leans on folklore, verse, and a slightly old-fashioned sense of wonder.
