The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is a horror and fantasy novella by H. P. Lovecraft, first published in 1943. It belongs to Lovecraft’s Dream Cycle and follows the idea of a dream journey toward a mysterious, distant place. The story is one of the longer works in that cycle, and one of the longer Lovecraft pieces to feature Randolph Carter. Its shape is more epic than compact, but it stays focused on atmosphere, dream logic, and the uneasy mix of wonder and dread.
This is a good fit for readers who like their fantasy dark, strange, and a little unstable, rather than cleanly explained. If you enjoy stories built on mood, symbols, and shifting dream landscapes, this will probably work better for you than a fast plot-driven novella. It also connects naturally to Lovecraft’s other Dream Cycle writing, while still standing on its own as a self-contained experience.
