Lisa Tonkin is on her way to find her grandfather—her only living relative, master of a cattle station in the remote Australian outback. In lonely Finch's Creek as she waits for her grandfather's car to arrive, she passes the time reading to a patient in a tiny bush hospital. The patient's name is Jim Ransom and try as she might, Lisa cannot forget him. Even when she discovers that he and her grandfather are sworn enemies. Even when she sees him with the beautiful, sophisticated Imelda. . . .
