The Mexican American War [videorecording]

Considered by many to be one of the most unjust wars ever waged, "Mr. Polk's War" was instigated to expand America's border to the Pacific by taking nearly half of Mexico's territory -- and ultimately, it succeeded. Hosted by Mexican-American boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya, The Mexican-American War studies the controversial conflict from both sides, exploring why it began, how it was fought, and why it ended in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Mexican and American historians join forces to unravel the many conflicting stories about the struggle -- which features such figures as future president Zachary Taylor, Ulysses S. Grant, and Robert E. Lee -- and shed crucial light on one of the most important battles in North American history. Abounding in unique archival materials, haunting reenactments, and incredible location footage, The Mexican-American War definitively narrates the dramatic events that vastly altered the fates of two neighboring nations. - Container.
