Ukrainian Political Economy

"This book explores the intersection of political cronyism with faulty and counterproductive national economic policies. Drawing on theoretical literatures on budget, tax, and monetary reform, Kravchuk analyzes the development and implementation of public policies oriented toward political rather than economic concerns, often drawn up in haste, and poorly designed and implemented. The failures and struggles of Ukrainian economic development shed important light on the difficulties of the transition from socialism."--BOOK JACKET.
