Uprising

Uprising is the story of Minnesota's war within a war. The clash of cultures that was the Dakota of 1862 raged during the American Civil War. Estimates range as high as 800 fatalities in this bloody six week war. Uprising tells the story of the conflict through the eyes of a fictional character, Nathan Thomas, who is sent by Jefferson Davis to Minnesota to ferment the war. The book is strong on the history even though it has a fictional thread running through it.
